David Schutte has now made available to the public his detailed research carried out in 1989 for Mary Cadogan’s William Companion. The research is a spreadsheet of every William story listed by title, date of first magazine publication, book appearance, and every character who appears “on stage” in every story (and an ‘m’ for every character who is mentioned (but does not appear) in the story, as well as every named place, house, pub, shop, servant, society, and interesting object, and the page number in the first (or first cheap) edition on which they first appear in that story. The list is fully searchable with Ctrl+f, so it should be an excellent research tool, and a way to rediscover that elusive story!
